well, it's not too late, yet.. I still have my fingers crossed and would love to be in the DC area right now. That's what winter is supposed to look like. Reminds me of the Blizzard of 78 or maybe it was 77? It kept me out of school for two weeks

Here is an interesting article with an interesting stat:

El Nino drowning Texas wildfire threat (http://www.mysanantonio.com/livinggreensa/83738892.html - broken link)

"During the past five months the San Antonio area has received 26.71 inches of precipitation, the wettest five months on record. Moreover, that span has brought almost 2 inches more rainfall to San Antonio than the preceding 24 months."

Impressive stats! It is crazy the locals lakes are still struggling to recover from the drought. I guess it really illustrates how severe the drought of 2009 really was for our area.

Long range models have El Nino fading over the summer. Back into our drought cycle. UGH!

Mother Nature is making some progress to fill our lakes before El Nino is gone.

I think it was '77 (not too sure tho'). I lived on Long Island and I remember being out of school for awhile. We played in the white stuff all day and my mom was terrified that me and my sister would end up being lost in a snow drift. I also remember helping my father shovel the snow off the driveway in layers.

I was in Michigan and you could literally walk out the second story window into the drift in the front yard. I had the baddest snow fort ever thanks to all the snow that used to be on the driveway. It was more of a snow condo with multiple rooms.
We definitely need some of that around here. I've got plenty of leave to burn.

this morning from noaa... (emphasis mine)

Wednesday: A chance of rain, snow, and sleet. Cloudy, with a high near 40. East northeast wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Wednesday Night: Rain likely before 9pm, then rain, snow, and sleet likely. Cloudy, with a low around 33. East northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Thursday: Rain and snow likely, becoming all rain after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 41. Northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Thursday Night: A chance of rain and snow. Cloudy, with a low around 32. North northeast wind between 10 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

sounds like a rain/snow mix, but with temps too high to really stick. but I'd be glad to even see some snow. but please, no ice.
