And I used to work there. There were 3 theaters and they showed Rocky Horror Picture Show every Saturday night... people would dress up, bring toilet paper to throw, and yell in unison back at the screen... pretty cool to see. We even had a college professor there once, trying to figure out why there was such a cult following and such diehard fans.

I wasn't living in San Antonio at that time, but apparently it was a very nice cinema (two screens, each 750 seats, plush velour, very elegant and comfy). It was opened by National General Theatres on December 18, 1969 with Peter Ustinov in “Viva Max” on one screen.

The January 13, 1975, issue of Boxoffice Magazine said that the former Fox Twin in San Antonio had reopened as a triplex on December 20, 1974. Actress Rhonda Fleming made a personal appearance at the opening.

The theatre closed mid-1990’s and was razed in 2003.

BTW:
The North Star Cinema was the first multiplex built in San Antonio. It opened on Christmas Day 1964. Cinema I had 958 seats and Cinema II had 526 seats. “The Sound of Music” had an 88 week run there, a still unbroken record!
It closed in 1982.
