Anyone got any recommendations? I'd like a bit of land and a bit of privacy, but still access to decent amenities.

Try going East on I-10.
Doesn't take very long to feel like you are in the middle of nowhere.

A house, sorry. Loooong day

I need to make the move before September, and am going for my second visit to what I consider one of the greatest places I've ever been to, my soon to be home, to start looking at homes

I've got a fairly large safety cushion to fall back on if I find the "right" home early, about a years worth of income of what I'll be making at my new job before taxes.

I'd say 200k would be the cieling pricewise, but this is just a starter home, and only needs to fit 2 young adults.

Retiring? Want to avoid traffic? I think the S, SW area of SA is hugely underrated. Everyone is moving North/Northwest...but it's getting crazy out there.

Yes, exactly

Also, not retiring, just moving to the area for work fresh out of school.
