I have asked my childrens student council and my kids have offered to help the kids and families in Haiti. Do anyone have any ideals. The student council is not a very big group and the teacher say they are doing various projects but still want to help do anyone have any ideals on what they can do. I though maybe making some cards for some of the kids or collecting peanut butter would be good. I know this want help every family but we just want the the kids to take a part in helping with this crisis . Does anyone know of any military units or nurses, docs going to Haiti maybe they can bring the cards from our kids to give to some patients to brighten their day.

I know personnel from Wilford Hall Medical Center have gone, as one of our son's doctors was with them. However, for security reasons I would recommend against naming individuals or units.

I would try contacting the 59th Medical Wing Public Affairs at 292-7688 or using this web page (http://www.whmc.af.mil/main/contactus.asp - broken link). I am sure they are prepared for these kinds of requests and can route you in the right direction.

And good on all of you for wanting to help those who are helping others! Having been on the receiving end of some "care packages" in the past, they are very much appreciated!

Cheers! M2

My husbands best friend just got his orders yesterday that he was being deployed to Haiti --- He doesn't know if he is going as soon as this weekend or leaving next week --- if you like i can ask him if he would be willing to take some items ...

i know he said he is being sent with his infantry unit, not his medic unit ... i don't know if this means anything, i am not up on military lingo at all ... so i don't know if he has alot of gear to take already, i really have no clue ... but i can certainly ask if you like ... dm me if you are interested ...

Hello,

I wanted to put this out again. My kids school is doing a service project and we wanted to do something for the earthquake victams of Haiti. My husbands unit was suppose to go but it may be on hold. Does anyone else know of any units or any organizations going to Haiti and any needs that the children can do. We were going to try to send something to cheer up the kids and families we know that we cannot help all but every little bit helps.
