So, we finally made it to SA to scout out high schools and neighborhoods...we ended up deciding to have our son attend MacArthur...it appears to be the best fit for him (although my husband fell in love with Reagan). Accordingly, the neighborhoods around MAC, especially in the northern end of the school boundary (near Hollywood Park, on Parhaven Road) are AMAZING! It is exactly what we're looking for...quiet, lots of trees, and houses with yards that aren't one on top of the other. We saw deer in the area as well! We also explored the area around the school and loved it as well. While Stone Oak is beautiful, we're looking for something a little less congested and, well, with more trees!

Overall, we were very impressed by the friendliness of the residents. Everywhere we went, we were greeted warmly and taken care of. Everyone is so courteous...which is something you don't see very often in Miami. The drivers are just as crazy as Miami drivers too, so they didn't phase us.

We had pizza at 46th Street NY Pizza (two big thumbs up!). We drove out to Hill Country...it was well worth the hour's drive. We went to Rudy's in Leon Springs...twice! Their creamed corn is out of this world (well, that and the barbecue too!). We ended up in the King William district for First Friday (Casbeers @ the Church was great!), and went to the Riverwalk, where we enjoyed karaoke at The Republic of Texas.

On our last day there, we had to kill some time before returning our rental, so we went to the Lincoln Heights HEB...impressive! Had lunch at Sushi Zushi, and finally boarded our flight home. Needless to say, we are even more excited about moving to SA now! Thanks to all of you for all the great recs...we had a fantastic time!

Glad to hear you had a successful visit and that the members here helped you find what you were looking for. Hundreds of people are moving to SA every day and I'm sure some of them will be looking for the same kind of help that you found here. Once you get settled in, come back and share your recommendations with the next batch of new residents.
