It wouldn't surprise me if that new guy thinks that it's normal to get rain every other day in San Antonio.
I don't think there's a very large pool of meteorologists in San Antonio to choose from. Most TV stations (outside of very small markets) won't hire unless you have a few years experience. When there is no one to fit their qualifications, they must search outside the market.

You argue anyone can be good with enough time... it's much easier to learn geography than it is to learn the functions of the atmosphere.

And no, I'm sure John Gerard doesn't think for a second that we get close to our average annual rainfall 5 months into the year all the time.

I'm sorry, but I don't care for John Gerard. He says some really corny things and at inappropriate times. I miss Jennifer Broome.

I agree. He's very humdrum, and just furthers the sleepiness that much of San Antonio culture can be. Jennifer is the most dynamic and smooth speaker and personality. She carried that whole newscast, in my opinion. I'm kind of happy that Gerard is a dud because it will make WOAI pay for their terrible and selfish mistake of letting Broome go.

I'm surprised at the lackluster response to John Gerard. IMO, he's much more professional than his predecessor.

If you're missing comedy and grins, Bill Taylor can fill that need on KENS 5. I don't have much interest in the rest of WOAI's news team, so I still catch Bill's shtick on a regular basis. I try to switch over to catch John Gerard when weather time rolls around.
