Hi! I'm relocating to San Antonio to work at Sea World and are wondering what are good places to live in the Far West Side. As in, safe for a young woman to live (apartment style).

Having not been able to fly out yet to scout, its hard to narrow down the search without knowing the ins and outs of the neighborhoods. Any help is great help!

Thanks!

There are several really nice apartments in the area. A few that come to mind (and are within a 1 mile radius) are:

The Lodge at Westover Hills I used to live in a Lodge property back in 99-00 when I was single. I loved it!
The Haven at Hill Country
Stone Ranch at Westover Hills
Alamo Ranch Apartments in Alamo Ranch

Thanks so much!!!! I''m probably not going to be able to get out there before hand so any input is really helpful

How are the furnishings in the Lodge? I know it was a while ago, but were they nasty and clearly looking used?

Personally, I might avoid the Alamo Ranch area. That area has really come up nicely and the shopping center is taking off really well, but.........

....the traffic at 1604 and Culebra has gotten stupid.

One of these days the city planners (or whoever is in charge) will figure out how to handle traffic in this city. Seems to be a huge area of failure in a city growing as quickly as we are.

I used to live at the Haven apartments and liked it pretty well. The location is great, just minutes from Sea World and easy access to 151 and 410.

However, reading the reviews (http://maps.google.com/maps?um=1&ie=...ed=0CCUQtgMwAQ) makes it seem like it has gone downhill. We did have a few rowdy neighbors that had to have the cops called on them, but that happens pretty much anywhere.

There are quite a few nice apartments right near the Haven though, so you won't have a hard time finding a nice place to live.
