Has anyone tried the BBQ joint on Acme Road a few blocks north of Hiway 90? I used to smell the smoke every day on my way to work.

There is another BBQ place not too far from that one on on old Hiway 90 around 38th street.

How does Grady's rate???

I love Cooper's in New Braunfels, similar set up to Rudy's but way better meat and sauce.

Very much like bill millers. its there but nothing truely special. Not bad mind you but not great.

Its like comparing a burger from mcdonalds to a burger from Chris Madrids or Bigz. You can have a mc burger and enjoy it, but it will not stick with you as a great culinary moment.

Wouldn't say it's the very best, but the old BUN N BARREL on Austin Highway usually has very good brisket, much better tham Bill Millers, Gradys, Texas Pride... AUGIES is usually pretty good too.

BBQ STATION is very good if you like a lean brisket (I don't)

Personally, I prefer the lean brisket. Give me short, or little end, of the brisket with the crusty outside.

I suggest you drive out to Boerne and go to Riverside Market. Like someone else mentioned above in reference to Rudy's, it's not the best in Texas, but it's a first class cut of meat you won't find many places. Fantastic sausage too.

I must agree. My old office was very near by. I went 4 times in the first 3 weeks they were open.

If you want the best brisket, go to Austin. Franklin's is the best in the state (which means best in the world)

I have not had any decent brisket in SA but have not tried Two Bros. It does get 4 stars from the expert at fullcustomgospelbbq.com
This guy is a fanatic. I always agree with his ratings. I don't believe he has a 5 star in San Antonio. (the majority get only 2 stars)

Other favorites of mine in no particular order:

Luling City Market
Kreuz in Lockhart
Louie Mueller in Taylor

Have not tried this one either but it gets 4 stars
Home of Da Smoke
It is out hwy87 not far from Texas Pride (which gets only 2 stars)

If you want to get a bit out of town. The Salt Lick in Driftwood is excellent.

Bob's Smokehouse on the corner of Rigsby and Roland. Try it. You won't be disappointed, and Ruben's is right around the corner for the best tamales in town.
