How is it in the NE side of San Antonio, we would be looking for an apartment so Im hoping its a good area, Im also looking into New Braunfels, Is it more affordable than other areas in SA? Im looking more into the Selma/Universal City area.

NB (the town) is pretty far out from SA. UC/Selma would also be a pretty good commute into most parts of SA. I'm sure there are a variety of housing options availible, perhaps posters who live in these areas could fill you in

I live in that area,
feel free to ask specific questions and I'll try to help you out.

The whole area seems fine,
there's a lot of military people since it's right next to Randolph Air Force Base.
The closest malls/shopping are The Forum (1604/I-35), Crossroads about 53miles from the Forum on 1604 and after that, you have to drive to North Star Mall.

I agree the area that is close to and radiates out from the Forum area (1604 & I-35 intersection) is quite nice for the most part. There are a few areas that are not as desireable such as many areas off of Pat Booker road in Universal City (although the Olympia Hills neighborhood off Pat Booker is nice) and some areas in the old part of Schertz.

You should have no problem finding a nice place to live.

New Braunfels is very nice but if you are having to drive into SA on I-35, it will not be a pleasant commute.

As far as shopping, Rolling Oaks Mall is also very close to the Forum area at 1604 and Nacogdoches.

There are several nice areas to live in in this area of town. I live in Converse and although my neighborhood was built in the late 80s our subdivision is still fairly ok and we hardly ever have problems.

I'd stay north of 1604 (outside of Bexar County). Crime is higher and so are the taxes and insurance rates.

The biggest problem north of 1604 right now is traffic in and out of San Antonio on I-35. Nacogdoches and 78 are good alternate routes into SA from this area.

I live over in the Northcliffe subdivision and right now cost per square foot are pretty low (due to short sale and a couple foreclosures). This also includes Scenic Hills which are newer homes but smaller lots. I'm biased, but this is a great neighborhood and Schertz is really taking care of us (upgrading streets, walkways, parks, etc.) We have an entrances right of I-35 and 1103 and short distances to just about everything you need. Come take a look!

Yep! We've lived in New Braunfels for 6 years now, and the wife commutes into SA daily - me, about 3 times a week. Love it up here, and don't regret it for a second. Yeah, traffic on 35 can be a challenge, but being able to drive into "downtown" in minutes and walk around the shops more than make up for it. It's a different life, and not for everyone - but we enjoy it!
