I just married into the military (a completely foreign world to me) and am now figuring out all the ins and outs of military benefits, insurance, etc. For dental insurance, I'm switching to Delta and don't recognize any of the names on their preferred provider list in San Antonio. Can anyone with Delta recommend a good dentist that's a participating provider? Location not that important, but quality of work and attention to detail is. I'm not sure if it makes a difference with regard to Delta, but my hubby is ret AF so he's got the Tricare retiree plan. Thanks!

I have Delta and use Dr. Steve Edwards on Nacogdoches, sometimes the waits are long, but they do good work.

We also have Retiree Delta and our family sees Mary Douthit on Perrin Beitel. Her number is 646-8818. In four years we've been happy with service and rates, best of all I never have to deal with the paperwork.

Default Delta Dental

Delta Dental comes in a couple of classifications, ie. PPO. Similar to any insurance coverage. There are many dentist here, perhaps too many. There are some that have been in practice here and have established a distingished reputation. One such as Dr. Lisa Masters. She also has a brother who practices in SA as well (he does accept Delta). There father was also a well known dentist who started "Masters Dental" located on Blanco Road. Lisa (his daughter) also teaches classes at UTSA. These folks have built a business and life in and around their business. Give them a call. David Master,1011 Shook Ave @ 822-5200 and Lisa Masters,DDS,MS (Periodontics and Oral Implantology) 7400 Blanco Rd. #100, San Antonio @ 210-349-4424. You can also e-mail at mastersdds@mdgteam.com or visit their website mastersdentalgroup.com

Love Dr. Haberman!!! Frankly, I'm not impressed with cappuccino bars and wireless perks when I go to the dentist-- I want someone who listens to me and puts me at ease. Our family tried Westover Hills/Lemon Tree and had a very bad experience with one of the hygienists.

We second (whoops, now third) Doc Haberman, but just to note he is prior (and not retired) Air Force.

Regardless, Doc Haberman is the best dentist we have ever had; and my wife, who is deathly afraid of dentists, actually enjoys going to her appointments!

I am constantly amazed at how he can do such excellent work so painlessly! Maybe I have just had too many hamfisted dentists during my 25 years in the military, but I can honestly say I can't recall one instance where Doc Haberman has inflicted an ounce of pain on me in the 4+ years I've been seeing him!

And to top it off, he is probably one of the nicest guys you will ever meet! Heck, half of my appointments are taken up just catching up since my last visit.

Oh, and we have and use Delta Dental; so his staff know the process and take care of all the paperwork!

Cheers! M2
