Yep. We were one of them until about 6:00am. Power conveniently came one when it was time to get up to get ready for work.

It was nice, though, sleeping with the windows open - some cool breezes throughout the night. Our kids thought it was like camping - telling stories by candlelight before bed, laying back and listening to the storm.

Yep, that was a good one. We and two neighbors had large sections of our fences blown over. Probably wouldn't have been any issue for them at all if the construction crew behind us hadn't dug out all the soil behind the fences to fix a retaining wall that they hadn't added any drainage to. Hoping to get a call back from DR Horton to fix it since they really should have supported our fences before digging all the soil out from behind them. Thankfully no one was walking on the side walk when it happened.

Saw the neighbors shingles getting blown off their roof and an unsecured basketball hoop levitate off the ground. Scary. Sped up my heart rate.

If I see shingles scattered around somewhere, I know where they're from!

Ugh. Lights went out the right after the wind picked up. Didn't get them back till about 230. Very stuffy in the apartment till the fans came back on. Wifey was afraid she wouldn't be able to get the car out of the garage this morning.

Shingles on the lawn - lawn chairs rotated like the Exorcist. Potted plants de-potted!

It was the end of the world!

Storms cause worst power outages in decade

Electricity was restored Thursday morning to about half of the CPS Energy customers who lost power during thunderstorms that pummeled the area on Wednesday.

As of 10:30 a.m., about 1,000 power outages were affecting more than 55,000 customers, many on the far Northwest Side, said CPS Energy spokeswoman Theresa Brown Cortez. She said the goal is for all customers to have power by Thursday night.

At the peak of the storm around 9 p.m. Wednesday, about 120,000 customers were without power, she said....(full story)
