I would not move to either Beaumont or Lake Elsinore. If you are looking for a nice city with low crime, great schools and affordable homes you should look into Menifee (stay on the south side away from Perris), MUrrieta, temecula, some parts of Wildomar are nice that border with Murrieta. Good luck.

Wife will be returning to school - probably UC-Riverside.
I was born & raised in SOCAL, lived in Redlands most of the time & never thought I'd live in Beaumont or Banning (hated them both years ago) well I moved back from Las Vegas a couple years ago & have now bought a home in Banning. I like it very much. It's very quiet & much cooler then some of the other areas. People say the wind blows alot, but I've yet to see any bad winds. It's nice in the summer because it cools it down some. I also think Beaumont has some really nice areas. You need to check them out. In my opinion I'd rather live here then in Lake Elsinore. They do have a nice ball park there & good baseball team though!

Does banning or beaumont have a gang problem ? I do know both beaumont & banning police are over zealous. Last yr a asswipe banning detective stared me down big time like i had just commited a crime. I just stared him down as well.

Also in late summer 2009 a female banning cop kept staring at me at a traffic light but she didnt pull me over & ticket me for tinted windows, no front bumper, license plate & right headlamp.

Unfortunately a riverside county deputy did nail me for tinted windows in 8/09. I havent seen the jackass since then.

That is absolutely wrong. Crime is very low in several cities in California. San Jose, CA is the safest large city in the country and San Diego is next safest. Mission Viejo has consistently had the lowest crime of any city in the country and Murrieta where I live is ranked second lowest. There are many more with low crime rates.

I too was considering either Lake Elsinore & Beaumont. I recently decided that Beaumont is a better fit for me after visiting both cities.

Lake Elsinore's lake is a big problem- the water is very dirty and I observed many dead fish up shore, I don't know if the water is polluted or what- but there is something wrong with the water that's causing those fish to die, having that said I don't think it's safe going into the water. Also property tax is higher because of the lake- although I don't know where the money is going because they are not cleaning the lake. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you plan to buy in lake elsinore you want to buy a house on the other side of the freeway away from the lake (like Rosetta Canyon/Tuscany Hills). The bad area of Lake Elsinore is near the lake- that's where all the child abusers are (Look it up on Megan's Law).
Although, Lake Elsinore has more amenities than Beaumont. In Beaumont you have to drive 10-15 miles to go to the nearest Costco.

Beaumont continues to develop and you have the Cabazon outlets that are about 15 minutes away. In Beaumont is gets windy with the Santa Ana Winds and sometimes it snows. At this time, Beaumont only has one high school, but Im pretty sure they while build another once the city starts to grow. Cal state San Bernardino is just 20 minutes away. Oppose to Lake Elsinore I believe UC Riverside is a bit farther.

I suggest you go visit these two places and spend the day there. Don't just visit once but visit many times before you make your final choice. I visited Lake Elsinore and Beaumont about 7-8 times, and all those times I went I noticed things I had not observed the first visit.

Don't waste your time with cl723. It has an anti-California agenda and never allows truth or facts to cloud its ramblings.

Font, has nothing to do with an anti-cal agenda but the truth that a lot of people don`t really want to here. Including YOURSELF...

John , yes, some areas don`t have as much crime as some others but compared to were I live now(and have lived and have relatives that live in different states), it`s still a lot of crime no matter were you go in Cal.

That is absolutely untrue. Yes, there are some high crime areas in the state but there are many areas that are some of the safest in the US. Crime is much higher in the mid-west and several other states.
