Hi CheckingThingsOut,

In general you are going to be looking for an experienced inspector. Someone that has at least ten years experience in the business. Make sure you get an inspector that produces a narrative format, rather than a check list format report as a narrative format lends itself to being the most thorough.

Check out a sample report. Make sure you can attend the inspection. Ask about the quality of the report and the inspectors qualifications before you ask about price and STAY AWAY from low priced inspectors! Do you want the lowest priced doctor checking out your body? Something along those lines...

You want a thorough inspection with a clearly written report (not chopped up and confusing with more photos than information).

Many homes are and have been vacant for sometime; a great inspection has never been more valuable to the home buyer than now. Please make sure that the house is made ready to inspect by having the agent or agents get the utilities turned on and functional prior to the inspection date! This is extremely important for the most comprehensive inspection to be preformed.

stay away from newbies and ones that use a checklist!! many unqualified ones. We used Mark Harold and we thrilled with his detailed report and knowledge. This guy has been around the block and "gets it" His number is (951) 225-2988 and he serves Temecula, Inland, OC and San Diego. Make sure you get him not an employee.

Thumbs up great home inspector riverside, temecula

We used him too!! The guy named Mark Harold at (951) 225-2988 and would use him again in the future. He came recommended by our Realtor but we still interviewed him because you just never know if they are friends or actually good. Turns out he is good! Honest guy, took almost three hours, huge detailed report with photos, not a checklist, and even came back free to check our HVAC later after it was fixed by the seller (to make sure it was really fixed!) I have NEVER heard of and inspector doing that and he said he does it quite frequently because he wants customers for life, well he's got one! Good guy, give him a call ~ oh, fair prices too.
