To the OP: This is from a site about fireflies, in reference to their range in the US:

"Certainly fireflies are most commonly observed in greatest numbers east of the Mississippi River all the way from Florida to Maine. However, occasional reports have come form such unlikely places as Arizona, Idaho, California, Oregon and Washington state."

So, OP, I guess the chance of finding fireflies in Wildomar is officially listed as "unlikely". Bullheads and crickets abound, but no fireflies.

If Wildomar is too crowded for you, try the small desert and mountain towns to the east. It may not be as lonesome as South Dakota, but it's pretty close. You'll be within an hour or two of your kids, and there are plenty of Indian casinos nearby where you can try to find a job.

Isn't this just like moving to Idaho and asking where the heck is the white sand beaches and coral reefs? And asking how people could survive living there without the joy of lying in the sand and feeling the hot sun against your skin... and then feeling pity for them that they don't get to experience that.

Daddy or fireflies? I would guess most kids would choose Daddy...

The nearest town is probably about 1,500 miles away. Wildomar is Southwest, not Southeast.

I'm guessing the "daddy or fireflies" was a tongue in cheek question.

If you're looking for small town living where you can take your kids fishing, hiking, camping, clean air and close enough to your kids AND casinos, check out Crestline or Lake Arrowhead. Has all of that and more.
