You'll be fine. Yes, there are gangs. You might want to avoid the Eastside neighborhood. As far as someone burning a cross on your front lawn goes, naw.

Are you for real? How safe is any area for anyone? No one has a contract with a higher power, when it's your turn to go, you're going, no matter where you are! If you go out about your business in a respectful manner, you're as "safe" there as anywhere else.

African Americans are safe here - as safe as anybody else, anywhere else. Sure, Riverside has gangs, as most places do, but you learn who and where to stay away from. Just choose your friends wisely and you shouldn't have any problems. This is true of anywhere you move to.

Riverside is a city of 300,000 people. The city is VERY middle class in character. Along with Moreno Valley, and Corona, the greater Riverside area has a crime rate that is about at the national average. Riverside has a median income that is above the state average and national average.

There are some areas that are rather sketchy, but the majority of the city is fine.

Riverside is fine. Eastside neighborhood isn't great, but even that isn't too bad. Moreno Valley has a pretty good sized African American population.

I have to agree with you. Riverside, in my humble opinion, is truly an all American town. It's well diverse along racial and income lines. The city overall is nice and most areas are well maintained, especially for a city its size. If you are a christian, Riverside have many well established churches for your to choose to worship as well.
