Hi -
Moving to Temecula. It's overwhelming all the little communities there are. From Red Hawk to Wolf Creek to Harveston etc... Which are the most popular? Wolf Creek is nice but it's across the street from the casino is that safe? Red Hawk seems popular but it seems a little run down. I love Lake Harveston but is it snobby? I'm so confused.

Why Temecula? and where will you be working? I suggest if you can stay at one of the hotels on a Sunday night and get up at 6am or whatever time and just take a drive and try and get on the freeway.. that should give you a good idea of what you will be dealing with on a Monday morning commute and a good idea of what time you need to get up. I suggest moving closer and not to Temecula-- over crowded lots of traffic. I moved to Wildomar and I live at the Windstone Ranch off the 15 freeway develpment by DR Horton. LOVE IT. huge home, reasonable price around $410K, rooms are huge and I have 1/2 acre of back yard, I back right up to the Santa Rosa Mountains and there is NO development around me. I have both an elementary and intermmediate school near me and the High School is only 2.49 miles away. and I have a beautiful breeze that will always be,, starting at 2pm and is all day long and into the evening. The home is so well built, that my electric bill even with 2 huge AC's was at the highest peak this summer only $140.00.

Plus I can take Ortega everyday into The OC where I work and I am up 5:45am, out of the hosue by 6:15 and I arrive at my office in Newport beach by 7:30-- dont think anyone can say that-- that takes the 91..

Default Moving to Temecula

It's funny I saw your note, cuz I am going through exactly the same. I visited Temecula a couple of months ago and stayed there for a few days. I worked with a realtor. I too feel that Red Hawk was a bit run down (depending on the area). Check out Morgan Hill, Crowne Hill areas, too. Wolf Creek was nice, but it does worry me that it's not finished yet. They are nice. Harveston is good too, except it has a completely different feel....tough choice..I'll follow answers to your thread to see what others may suggest...

We looked in Temecula and decided on Winchester. Homes are really cheap right now because of foreclosures and the homes on the south side (? to the right of the 79) are still in the Temecula school district. We just found a 3100 square foot house for $310,000. Close to school and park. We are planning on living there for the next 20 years to raise our young kids. Seems like a great area and we are excited. Wildomar seems great as well. Look around. Lots to choose from.

Winchester is totally ghetto...it may have new housing & be getting nicer, but it will be awhile before it loses the overall ghetto look & rep.
I live in Menifee & work in Temecula. Menifee is cheaper & not far from Temecula. It's even more boring of course. I would take it over Murrieta though. People are weirdly snobby in Murrieta when they have nothing to be snobby about.

Most of the "communities" are all the same in Temecula. Just upper middle class cookie cutter neighborhoods. Wherever you live, you'll be going to the same stores & restaurants & whatever. It really makes little difference. It's not that big of a city.

Why is Winchester ghetto? We don't know the areas very well, but the schools are good and there are lots of parks. Is there a lot of crime? I'm a little concerned now. We hadn't heard anything bad about it. Didn't seem all that different from the rest of the cities around it.

No, it's not a crime thing....just a lot of white trash. I don't know, whenever I drive through it, it looks a little backwoods-y to me. I'm sure that's the older parts.
The newer neighborhoods & schools aren't bad though. It will probably grow and turn into another Menifee.

i get what your saying. I just want a safe place for my little kids to grow up. We're both teachers and the schools are good, the housing price is right and we pretty much keep to ourselves. New high school and middle school set to open in 2011 (we'll see with this economy) and I would love to be really close to work. Every time we've been out it has been quiet, kids playing and not too much traffic. Hopefully we make a good choice.

What about Palmo and Peso? I love the parks and trails? But lots of foreclosures. Any help or advice would be great!
