In the Inland Empire? Good luck. If hell exists you're in it. The low desert has taken a beating in terms of the economy. BTW, most employers aren't open for you to learn. The last thing they want to do nowadays is train.

-Cheers.

Contact public assistance cause jobs are scarce esp in the low desert. Good-luck.

If you have the means to move, start looking for jobs out of state. I was in a similar situation, minus the 7 year old. I lost my job and was running out of money fast.. The job situation in California is dire and is getting worse by the week so it seems. I moved to AZ and found a job making twice what I would have made in California within a week. While this isn't typical, I can't recommend at least checking it out enough if it's a possibility. I wish you the best of luck!

I gotta agree with Hondacub85; if you can manange it...look out of state for work. It does seem that finding a job is horribly difficult in California, especially Southern Cali. And ESPECIALLY, especially in the Inland Empire. You might have to commute into the OC or even LA to find a semi-decent job.

You might be able to find some seasonal work what with the holidays coming up. I remember UPS always visiting the college around the holidays to hire temp work. Try with them; if you do a stand-out job, there's a small chance of being hired on permanently. I had heard that Home Depot was hiring recently. Check out their website as well.

Good luck with it.

Where else are you looking? State employment office? Private temp company? Local schools, including community colleges, which may have classes on improving job skills to make you more marketable. but also job searching skills (it's an important skill)? Thought of taking computer classes? Accounting? There may also be in your area support groups for those looking for jobs. Remember to emphasize accomplishments, and to make your skills sound as specific (and unique) as possible. You're not trying to convince people that you deserve a job but that they will profit from hiring you. Good luck.

You can always panhandle at gas stations untill you find a job I used to make about a hundred bucks a day. You'll find most people don't mind giving up a buck or two when someone is in need.Just give them the story about how you need to feed your kids and the illegals took your job. Heck I even got money from illegals before. I don't want to hear about pride and how it will hurt your ego, just do it till you get on your feet. You can also get food stamps too.Cali. will give them to you the same day in emergency situations. There are also food banks you can go to too. This is the land of milk and honey some have more of it than others but it can still be got if you go get it.

Wow, what is my home state coming to? I'm appalled by this response... Encouraging panhandling is not the answer, getting out of an area of California that is turning into a third world country employment wise, is.
