... who say that the high desert "isn't that bad?" Or that "there are bad places everywhere?" FBI national report came out that San Bernardino County is ranked 3rd IN THE NATION for crime. No surprise here. The HD is truly crime ridden, and getting worse every day. I don't think crime is just isolated to certain pockets of the HD either - it's everywhere & becoming more and more blatant! I surmise that the ppl who say the HD isn't "that bad" are like the lobster in boiling water (over time, they become desensitized to it), or are just plain in denial.

Surely, I'm not alone. Who's with me?!

links:
San Bernardino County is No. 3 in America for gangs | county, san, bernardino - FBI - Victorville Daily Press

http://www.fbi.gov/stats-services/pu...-06-11-map.jpg

The 1st link is an article from our local paper.
The 2nd link is a map provided by the FBI.

In addition, the chief of police visited the local community college and spoke about the growing crime epidemic in the High Desert, and offered this: "In 10 years, the High Desert will make LA look like a playground" with regards to crime. This was many years back... and it's been headed in that direction for quite awhile now, sadly.

It's doesn't merit statistics even - just look around.

The LD is running a close second. Maybe the name should be changed to Compton Valley instead of Coachella Valley ... just sayin'.

Crime is on the rise in part due to the terrible economy. Gangbangers should all just destroy each other. I dont see many in yucaipa/calimesa but i do see plenty of drug addicts esp up town.

Yes. Los Angeles made a deal with Victorville to send all of their troubled kids who are suspended/ expelled to their schools and they are paying them for each problem child transfered. That, coupled with the prison population in the High Desert, plus affordable housing, makes it a mecca for thugs.

But still, ppl insist "It's not THAT bad!"

The HD may not be Beverly Hills, but everything is based on comparison. To say that the HD is as bad as LA or any other major city is just ridiculous.
