Hello all,
Long story short, my husband has recently been offered a job in rialto which is great, but it also means moving our family from Olympia Washington to that area, and i am feeling very overwhelmed.
What are the best areas to live in and around rialto, our biggest requirments are excellent schools, family friendly and safe, and a reasonable commute. Thank you so much for your help

Kim

You're going from super cloudy to super sunny - that will probably be the biggest shock!

People are people - we may look a little different - but we're pretty much the same everywhere. If you come here with an open mind, you'll get along fine!

As for where to live, I would check out Redlands. It's an historic town, with lots of Victorian architecture downtown, and it has that small town feel. There are parts that aren't so nice, just like any town, but the Southern end of town is really pretty and safe - and there are kids everywhere! It's about 14 miles from Rialto.

Far north Rialto, far north Fontana, virtually anywhere in Rancho Cucamonga, heck even north San Bernardino (near CSUSB).

I agree with bouncethelight. Redlands is an awesome place to live. It is slightly more costly than some other cities surrounding Rialto, but it's worth it. It still maintains a small-town feel that many cities in Southern California lack and the school district is pretty good. The commute isn't too bad (esp since you won't be driving the 91 fwy). Plus being close to the mountains is a bonus. At the very least, check out the stats on wikipedia.
