Two years ago, the LA Times called it a 'gated ghetto' because of the foreclosures. But that's the media. It always looked nice to me (I have friends who live west of Willowalk)

We are thinking of moving to Hemet, but quickly getting discouraged from some of the things I've been reading. We are retired and like the homes and lifestyle in the Del Webb Solera neighborhood. Their affordable and nice. Beautiful clubhouse. My sister has lived in Hemet for 30 years, and never had any break ins or experience with crime, but does admit that Hemet has problems. Temecula is nice but so crowded. Now we're not sure what to do.

If your sister has lived in the area for 30 years - wouldn't you take her opinions over what is posted by strangers on a public message board?

Are you looking at Del Webb's Solera Diamond Valley? Nice area. ("Solera Diamond Valley is close to premier shopping, dining, entertainment, casinos and major sporting venues" - although I don't know what they mean by major sporting venues!)

Just their usually rumblings about wanting to buy Gilman Springs Road (between Sanderson Avenue and State Street) so they could stop the gawkers looking for Tom Cruise.

*I don't know what they mean by "close".

The only casino that is reasonably close is Soboba which is definitely not a casino I would go to. I have been there and won't go again. The next closest casinos are Pechanga in Temecula and Morongo west of Palm Springs.

Hemet ain't that bad IMHO. A friend of mine is there and; some parts are nasty but others are cool. I like Hemet a lot more than Tucson.
