We currently live in Yuma, Az and considering moving to either Temecula or Gilbert. We have visited both areas a couple times in the last couple months. I am a nurse and my husband is a mailman. We have a 2 year old and a four year old. We enjoy the outdoors and doing activities with our children. Good schools and safety are important. My husband and I like to go out alone sometimes and enjoy some nightlife, even if it's a cool hole in the wall bar. We are wanting to move from Yuma because we grew up there and want a change. Good weather is important along with more opportunities for our children's futures. Our issue is deciding where we want to move and raise our children. Feedback is greatly appreciated. I am sorry for any grammar errors. I completed this on my phone while my husband is driving us back from temecula. Thursday we head to Gilbert again. Thank you.

I've lived near both and I'd go with Temecula. But I'm not a desert person and I hate heat!

Temecula isn't in the desert.

A lot of people say that. They also say my area is the desert. They are wrong.

i don't know much about the schools so i can't answer that one. posts in here have said temecula has decent schools and my house in mesa was gilbert school district which was supposed to be good. that was a long time ago though. temecula is closer to things that i prefer - beach, good coastal weather, fun things like disneyland and knotts berry farm. plus i just prefer california to arizona. housing is probably in a good range in both.

how did you happen to pick these two places?

We initially thought San Diego but it's just too expensive for us. So then we thought, well it's already hot here why not go to a bigger city like Phoenix. We have friends who live there and they all said Gilbert. We went to go look and I was pleasantly surprised. It looks nice and clean but still soooo hot! I had contacted a realtor just before that and she mentioned Temecula. Cooler weather than Arizona but more affordable than San Diego. So I looked into it and it sounded good too. We went to go look and were very impressed. Loved all the trees and the fact that people actually had grass and flowers in their yards. Online research looks like they're both comparable. It's just hard because we don't know either place really and we grew up here so we're a little scared but at the same time we are ready. We don't want to move any farther away because we have family here.
