My husband and I may be moving to CA in the next few months as he has an opportunity for a temporary job transfer through his company to Fontana, CA. The position will likely be a 1 yr contract so we are looking to just rent a place and enjoy some time in CA before moving back home to NJ. I would really like to get feedback on the best places to live within a 30 mile radius of Fontana (or maybe closer if the traffic for a 30 mile commute will be beyond an hour.) We are looking for a safe neighborhood and our rent limit is $1,600/month. It will just be the 2 of us so a 1 bedroom is sufficient. Thanks in advance for your help!

Rancho Cucamonga, You have Victoria gardens and proximity to Pasadena, LA and the beach (Newport) is about an hour. Your cheaper alternative would be Redlands, Which is like a quaint smaller version of Pasadena. Stay away from living in Fontana. Downtown Riverside is also nice to visit. Have fun visiting awesome new places every single weekend of your stay here. You will never leave ;-)

Thank you! If we live in Rancho Cucamonga, are there many hospitals around there? I will need to find a job in one.

Yes, Loma Linda is 23 miles away.

You might also like San Dimas, that is just to the west of RC.

And it would be a reverse from SD to work at Loma Linda if you got a job there.

I like Redlands and Loma Linda. Redlands has a population of about 70,000, but feels more small towny. Loma Linda is only about 25,000, but feels bigger to me.
Based on cities we travelled to for my kids' sports, Claremont always seemed nice. San Bernardino was always scary - the kids actually had to be escorted from the school busses to the pool. I'm sure there are nice areas of SB, but someone else would have to tell you where those are.

I believe this is still their local paper. Home - San Bernardino County Sun

There are a **** ton of hospitals out here compared with other parts of the country. Now, about finding a job...that is difficult to say these days. The job market has been picking up lately, but the wages are lower, competition steep, and work environments our higher pressure (due to the high amounts of unemployed, ready to take your job)

I don't know what job you looking for, but I would def. include more possibilities then just hospitals.
