Looking at a house in what appears to be the historical downtown area of Riverside, a few blocks from Mission Inn & all that.

It appears to be a busy street, but that's no issue for me. I don't mind noise or people out & about at night as long as they're not creepy. I lived in oldtown Temecula for a time & loved it.

The street looks very clean & pleasant in daytime.

The issue is I'm young/single woman, would be living alone, and am concerned about coming/going at night.
The rent is very good, which makes me go "hmmm". A friend of mine years ago said downtown Riverside at night is all hookers & drug dealers. Would that include this specific area? I'm not super familiar with specific areas of Riverside as far as living there goes.

Generally, how safe is this area?

Downtown Riverside has changed quite a bit. It's a lovely area and the historic homes are gorgeous. Riverside has demolished all the seedy hotels so the prostitiutes are pretty much gone. The area around downtown in general is improving and I don't think you'll have much trouble living there.

^ Thanks for the input.

My friend's comments were from some years ago.

That is good. I moved five years ago and the druggies and hookers were plentiful. It is a beautiful area and I STILL miss the Wednesday night street fair.

We visit that area quite frequently to eat at the Mission Inn. We have never felt unsafe nor seen anything to worry about.
