For those of you that are relocating to California, the Banning/Beaumont area of Riverside county is more affordable than most communities. The area has undergone a recent explosion of growth, but still has that hometown atmosphere.Since my children are grown, we are relocating out of state, but I'm glad we decided to raise our children in this area as compared to the more populated and condensed cities.

Yuba city is also affordable, my friend's parents have a huge house there! But yea California is losing tons of middle class people who are priced out. So is Florida.

Beaumont is getting to be pretty nice and a lot of retail is scheduled to be built in the area. It has wonderful golf communities in Tournament Hills and Fairway Canyon. We have considered the area ourselves and with the 210 about to be opened all the way through( I believe by the end of the year) I wonder if it wont keep the market stronger out that way.

I think your predictions are right,Wynerin. We are in Banning, which is the neighboring town, and while Banning is still a bit "sleepy" in development, I suspect that in the near future, it will start catching up to Beaumont. New housing communities are springing up all over starting at the 400 thousand plus range, but if you want more house and land for your money, older homes start around the high 200's. Our three bedroom home is priced in the low
300's with almost half an acre and a pool. One plus about Banning is that we have easy access to Beaumont's retail yet our streets aren't as congested with traffic, but I suspect that will change as the growth continues. I forgot about the 210 opening, and that should add to the influx of people moving east from the inner cities.
