We may be relocating to Hemet, I was wondering what the property taxes are like in the area. We own a 2400 sq ft home with a pool and RV parking, are taxes run us about 3500 a year. What would the taxes in Hemet or surrounding areas run? Does California have state tax and what is the sales tax?

Yes, CA has a state tax, sales tax runs anywhere from 7.5% to 9%, depending on the county. Property taxes are usually roughly 1% of the assessed value. Good luck!

State sales tax in Hemet (& Riverside county) is currently 7.75%.

Property taxes are going to vary greatly depending on the home. They will run from a low of about 1.2% to over 2%. I would guess that most people in Hemet are in the middle of that, about 1.6%. The newer the home the higher the tax because of special assessments and fees. Thanks to Prop 13 the taxes from year to year won't go up very much and are fairly predictable.

State income tax depends on your income, of course.

From: California state taxes
California collects income tax from its residents at the following rates.

For single and married filing separately taxpayers:
-- 1 percent on the first $6,827 of taxable income
-- 2 percent on taxable income between $6,828 and $16,186
-- 4 percent on taxable income between $16, 187 and $25,546
-- 6 percent on taxable income between $25,547 and $35,463
-- 8 percent on taxable income between $35,464 and $44,818
-- 9.3 percent on taxable income of $44,819 and above.

A 1 percent surcharge is collected on taxable incomes of $1 million or more, making California's highest marginal rate 10.3 percent.

I don't live in Hemet but I work in San Jacinto and live fairly close by. I think Hemet is a decent place for a family.
