Take it to a dealership. They can read the code and return it to the owner.

I called a dealership and they said that they won't because of security problems. I think they just want to make another $300 sale.

I called corporate in New Jersey and got the same answer. Mercedes sucks.

I posted an ad on Craigs List and I'm putting up a flier near where I found it. I'll give it a week or so. i'm seriously thinking about giving this to 60 minutes. To think that Mercedes is so greedy that they won't make a simple phone call to save a customer from having to shell out $300 for a new fob is crazy. I'll never do business with them.

The owner can probably afford the $300 to replace it. For all you know, it could be insured, as well??? Nice of you to be old school helpful, though!
