currently with verizon DSL, and its awful, because of the distance to their servers, the max speed im able to get is 1.7mb down.

I want to get time warner cable as they offer faster speeds but have heard outright TERRIBLE reviews on their customer service and billing so I had a few questions. How is the product? Are outages common? Are you getting the speed you signed up for or close to it? do the sales people lie to lure you in and when you get your bill its way high? And after the 1 year discount did you call and receive another discount on your bill?

i have also heard that Charter has purchased TWC so possibly a good sign?

Thanks!

Time Warner is fine from a performance perspective. They nickel and dime you on their service however. You will be charged for each DVR and even the modem for your computer. They have a monopoly on service in this area and they know they can get away with it. I had DSL once with ATT and it sucked so I put up with TWC. Don't believe the prices in the Ads. Once you start adding things like certain channels or a bundle the price will be much higher.
