I have never lived in San Bernardino, but when I was a kid in the 1960s I spent many weeks each summer at my Grandma's house in SB. She lived on N Acacia Ave near W 31st St.

I've been through San Bernardino many times in the past couple of decades and have seen the signs of changes and struggles. The one improvement over the 1960s is air quality. The present day air pollution and smog, although bad, was much worse in the late 1960s (before any sort of auto pollution controls). You almost had to chew while breathing, the smog was so thick. I remember having headaches after walking down to Highland Ave and back just to look at a few store windows or kill some time. There was also more heavy industry in LA and inland empire at that time, so that made air pollution in SB really bad.

So, there has been some improvement in air quality, but not enough that I would want to breathe the air in SB today as a full time resident.

This is what I was thinking.

LOL. I'm inclined to agree. I lived in San Bernardino/Rialto/Colton from '90-95 and while things weren't that great back then (you simply avoided the "bad" areas), they've certainly gotten progressively worse.

Having passed through El Cajon, I can attest to its eligibility.

When I read something bad about a certain area, it is usually balanced-out with people chiming-in about the good things, balancing out the overall picture.

But with San Bernardinobabwe, well, the things that I have read written about it have been almost all bad, and a lot VERY bad. From what I read, SB is verging on Mad-Max, not a safe or decent place to live.

For the OP - come on out and visit us in Bullhead City, AZ for a weekend. You'll think you are living in Beverly Hills when you get home.

UH maybe a better word than 'passed' should have been used, considering the enema comment.
