You didn't mention Trona originally.

Trona is 25 minutes east of Ridgecrest. The Pinnacles are there, and they are indeed cool. Trona smells like sulfur (think Yellowstone, but worse). There is a big dry lake there, and an ugly plant that mines minerals out of it. It has some of the cheapest housing in not just CA, but the USA. All of the neighborhoods (with the exception of Pioneer Point) look straight out of Detroit or East St. Louis.

The HS football team plays 8-man ball, and plays on a dirt field. Gas is prohibitively expensive. People enjoy arson and meth out there. People tend to be more cross-eyed than average as well. Some Tronites (what people from Ridgecrest call them) commute to Ridgecrest for work, and they kind of have to go to Ridgecrest for shopping. Alternatively, many Ridgecresters commute to Trona to work at the plant (but won't live there, I can't say I blame them).

I have known my share of Tronites, and it is very obvious something tends to be off about them. Don't be surprised if the women attempt to steal your husband/boyfriend/etc, don't be surprised when you invite one to your home and you find things missing later on, and don't be surprised when they say they like living there.

How about the towns of Argus and Searles Valley, nextdoor to Trona? Are they their own small town, or just areas of Trona?

Argus is one of Trona's neighborhoods, or "parts" if you will.

Searles Valley is the nickname for the combination of all of Trona's parts.

Nonetheless, it's all Trona, and it's all gross.

D.A., you sound like you've lived in or passed through every part of the IE. And now you're in Denver. Are you a drifter like John Rambo?
