Trona is a mining town. It's on the edge of a dry lake, where most of the minerals are mined. It used to stink like sulphur, you could smell the town for miles before you got there.

All the local high school football teams dreaded playing an away game at Trona High because the football field is dirt...grass won't grow there.

Not many people live in Trona anymore...a lot of tweakers & squatters moved in & a lot of the houses were torched. Most people who work for the mines live in Ridgecrest, which is Count David Aguilar's area of expertise.

A good thing about Trona is it's on the way to the Panamint Mountains, which are beautiful.

That, and the fact that MarciaMarshaMarcia mentioned that squatters and tweakers moved to Trona sounds kinda scary.

Amboy is a ghost town. Some creepy things are reported to have happened there and all you need to do is google "amboy california, creepy" for the better results of that inquiry.

Nipton is a tiny railroad stop on the border of California and Nevada in between Primm and Searchlight. Very quaint but definitely an "if you blink, you'll miss it" kind of place!

Brandon, dude, you need to get a car & start exploring!

Needles...old railroad town, broke down as h--- since the railroad left. Named Needles for the rock formations near the Colorado River. It is where one of the best excerpts of the novel, The Grapes of Wrath, occurred. Did you ever read it? You should.

Some of the most beautiful parts of the Mojave Desert are the Mojave National Preserve...that triangle-shaped area between I-15 & I-40...go explore it...and respect it!

Now...you're from Indio, right? I never went there, had a friend from there. Start talking.
