Lived in Baldy Mesa, went to school in Phelan, had friends in Pinon Hills -- they're isolated desert, with one actual intersection in Phelan with some commerce. A lot of leave-me-alone vibe, with dirt roads and loose dogs among the cacti and jackrabbits.
