Hey all,

I'm going to be traveling to SB (southeastern part) for work from out of state in June/July. From talking with some of our client's personnel from there, and looking at the forums here, it sounds like SB is a complete dump. I have to be in SB for work, but I don't have to stay at a hotel in town (which I really don't want to do).

I'm looking at neighboring towns to get a hotel room at -- Loma Linda and Riverside are the places I'm kind of looking at. I usually stay at Residence Inn-type hotels when I travel to get an idea of the price point I'm looking to stay at.

Would anyone be kind enough to give me some advice on where I should be looking to stay at? I've never been to California before (I live in the South).

Thanks!

Hospitality Lane should have something.

Otherwise, there are a few hotels in that range in Downtown Riverside.

I have lived in Ayres Hotel in Redlands couple of times and it's a nice hotel. I know Residence Inn usually comes with a kitchen, but Ayres doesn't. Also Rancho Cucamonga and Ontario are also safe areas with good hotel options. You might find some good decent hotels near Ontario Airport.

I agree with Rancho Cucamonga and Ontario. Lots of conveniences there too. Just don't stay too close to the airport (noisy). Generally going against traffic too so rush hour won't be painful.

I did a stint in SB as well. I guarantee you will be fine on Hospitality Lane, close to the Costco. There are a few chain hotels, nightly bar service, etc. Save yourself the drive.

I worked in the Hospitality Lane area for 20 years. The east side of Waterman looks better. Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites are nearer to more places to eat. If you stay at Homewood Suites, get your groceries in Redlands or Loma Linda.
