Hello,

Can you please let me know of your experience or knowledge of whether a daily commute from Rancho Cucamonga to Glendale is do-able? What would be a typical commute time? I think for sanity, an hour is probably the longest advisable commute - when I check Google, sometimes it's under 1 hour and sometimes it's way more (due to 'traffic slowdown') - how often does traffic slow down happen and can it be alleviated somewhat by flexing hours (maybe going to work around 6:30 and leaving early or go into work a bit later, etc)?

thanks for your help!!

Westbound traffic on the 210 starts to get bad around 5:45 a.m. once you get to the 605 interchange. Yes, at least an hour. And westbound in the afternoon is bumper to bumper. You could wait until after 7 pm to return home to reduce your time.

It will take you waaaay longer than one hour to commute from R.C. to Glendale. As someone who dealt with the 210 freeway since it was first built, and driven it recently, it may well take you 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours at night, depending upon when you leave work to return home. It is a VERY congested freeway. Tens of thousands of commuters every day, going both ways, but mostly westward in the morning, and eastward in the afternoon.

Don't know whether you already live in R.C. or are thinking of moving to the area. For decades, people have lived 30-40-50 miles away from their work in Southern California, in order to afford a nice house. I wouldn't live in R.C. and commute to Glendale. You'll spend a lot of time idling, and a lot of time stop and go. Then there are the road rage drivers and the unsafe drivers than aren't necessarily road ragers.

And the problem is that for several decades now, people have to choose between living close to work in Los Angeles and pay more for a housing and more for property taxes. If they live 40-50-60 even 70 miles away, they pay less for a house but more for gas, commuting, living on the road for 4-5 even 6 hours a day.

Perhaps, Glendale's number is a bit lower than $ 1,700,000. Maybe something closer to $1,100,000 ?

At 10:30 at night. Now, if only the traffic were like that during the day....

Its a crap shoot.

Right now (530a) theres a traffic accident on the 210 and fastest route is 10 to the 5.

FWIW - I used to live in Pasadena and commute w/b to Calabasas. Not apples to apples by any means, however just the commute from Pass to Glendale was enough to pull the ripcord.
