Default Whoa, Everyone!

Well, is Lake Elsinore a perfect city to live in? Is it completely safe, and the most accessible and offer the best education in California? No - but what city is perfect?? First of all, it's not the best, but it's not the worst city to live in. If you can afford to live in South Orange County or San Diego County then do so. If you can't, then Lake Elsinore is a viable option. Yes, it is a drive, but speaking as a Ortega Highway Commuter for the last 8 years, I'd rather drive Ortega Highway than drive the 91 Freeway any day! The drive is definitely not for the weak... Oh, and I've tried going through the 76 and the 78... it's a beautiful drive, but not on a weekday. Now, I won't dispell that there are meth-labs in the Inland Empire, but wherever you are - your kids will have access to dangers like drugs and violence. Now, its an old town that is in transistion... give it some time and it can and will get better... my kids go to the new schools in Lake Elsinore and they are doing awesome. Plus, there are no guarantees in life... just because a kid goes to an awesome school doesn't mean they'll be successful in life... they still require talent and drive. That's my $1.50 on the topic... if Lake Elsinore or South Riverside County is not for you then pony up the dough to live somewhere else. There are 7 Starbucks in Lake Elsinore and now a Pottery Barn so we're on our way.

Good afternoon, I was wondering if you still live in Elsinore and if you might assist me as I feel confussed about the geographics and the crime. Is Elsinore a safe place to live today 2/14/09 and which areas are less safe compared to Compton, Carson, Fontana, Ca ? I left Ca. 18 yr's ago due to the violence and the loss of a loved one being shot and don't want to step back into a community of terror. Please let me know if Elsinor is as dangerous as some claim or if it is contingent upon specific areas, lifestyles, luck ? Thank you for your time. P

I used to love the small town feel but that is going away now with all the growth we have had. I think this city has been given a bad rap for many years. I have a beautiful house with mountain views from my front porch and a lake view from my backyard. I have yet been able to find this anywhere else in Southern California and I have looked everywhere. If anyone needs to know detailed information about this city, please email me and I will be happy to provide you with unbiased answers. It all depends upon what you can afford. I can now afford to move somewhere else but it is so hard to leave. The schools in Murrieta, Temecula and even parts of Corona do score better than Lake Elsinore but that is because they do not have anywhere near the same amout of english as a second language population as does Lake Elsinore (this aspect does concern me). If I had to buy again now and the prices were the same, would I buy again in Lake Elsinore, probably not. It all depends on what you are loooking for. I will say that I have never felt unsafe here on the north side and have thought in the past that the schools were very good.

SB Basin County only has few good areas such as Chino Hills, Chino, Monticair, and Rancho Cucamonga. The rest have small pockets such as northern Fontana and San Bernardino. However, I would live in Riverside anyday rather than living in SB Basin County. Elsinore is good area but if you need to commute its not the best place to be. Canyon Lake is by far best community in SW Riverside County other than Temecula. Enjoy your new house.

Did you end up moving to Lake Elsinore? If so, we would be neighbors, as I am moving there in the next month. Can't wait! I will be on the street you were inquiring about.

I'm also seriously considering purchasing a home in the Canyon Hills/Canyon Lake area. My wife and I both work in OC (South Coast Plaza area and The Spectrum areas), so, we would be stuck with the commute either on the Ortega Highway or 15 to 91 to 55S. We would both be working from 7am til 4pm during the week. Does anyone know if the HOV and/or Speedpass lanes really do much to offset the traffic crunch for those commutes?

If you do 3 plus in your car Fast track is always free going west. It is free going east except for 4 to 6 pm (mon-fri) when it is half off. Fast track really does help!

It helps quite a bit, but you pay for it.

It's VERY spendy. Especially combined with gas if it skyrockets again this summer.

Hi... we are thinking about to move in Lake Elsinore too.. Tuscany Hills. I would like to know if is a safe place to live. I have a 21 months old baby, so I would like to know if it a nice place to race children, and if the schools have a good rate. Thanks.
