I would go with Murrieta or Temecula. Housing is very reasonable now. Winchester is much too far a commute to San Diego and there is nothing there. It looks like a ghetto. Temecula/Murrieta are very safe, very good schools, good shopping, and services. I would choose Mennifee over Winchester. There are a lot of nice neighborhoods like Heritage Lake, etc. and they are now getting some stores in the area.

Menifee is an up and coming town. I agree pretty much with all of the other posters. If you are looking for reasonable prices, Menifee would be a better choice simply because homes in my neighborhood are in the mid 200s. These are very large homes ranging from 2400 sq to 3500 sq feet. I do live on the east side of Menifee, east of the 215 freeway, and there are many very nice and newer neighborhoods for you to preview. Menifee Greens, Menifee Lakes, Heritage Lake, Abbey Lane, and Rolling Hills are just some of the newer neighborhoods that are really pristine.

Menifee's infrastructure may be an issue since we only have two main roads, and during rush hour and school dismissal times, a 5 min commute turns into 15-25 minutes. The city has planned with the county to get new bridges and the 215 widened, but that won't happen until 2015

The city has approved a new Super Walmart as well as a 71 room hotel. To me that's a sign that Menifee is moving forward. Temecula is just 15 minutes away if you want to do all of the upscale shopping or hit some of the bigger retailers.

I have lived in Menifee for 6 years, crime is very low, neighbors are friendly, and people like living here.

Default Menifee or Winchester?

Don't believe I've ever fired a Menifee but a Winchester is usually reliable!

Menifee is better in my opinion and they are both probably about the same as far a safety but Menifee is definately a better place to live.
