Not on purpose. When people outside of California ask me where I am from and I say, "Hemet". They have no clue then I try Riverside (no clue) so then I say near Los Angeles, which obviously is quite a stretch seeing as it takes over 2 hours to get to L.A. from Hemet.

If people are familair with the area I say Redlands. I love where I live and will always tell everyone but as the previous poster said if I am talking to out of state people I say about an hour east of Los Angeles. If I say redlands, they say oh is that near L.A or San diego, or San francisco. Peopel have no concept of this state. My mother in law still calls us if there is a fire in malibu. She thinks our house is about to burn. We try to explain but it does no good.

Not ashamed at all. Live in Rancho Belago in M.V. and i am loving everything about it, also own a home in Canyon Crest Riverside, and also in Anaheim Hills, they are rented out.

Luv Luv the larger lot, 15,673 sq ft, 4,000 sq ft home facing the Mountains, love it when there is snow on them, and I believe we do not have the traffic that ORANGE COUNTY OR THE SOUTH BAY HAS. I find i lack for not a thing living here every thing at my disposal.

Not ashamed at all, love living here in M.V. RANCHO BELAGO. Huge home, huge lot, nice neighbors, love looking at the snow capped mountains when it rains from my view. I do not feel that the traffic is as bad as in the South Bay, do you. I find i lack for not a thing living here, love it. We also a rent a home in Canyon Crest Riverside, and in Anaheim Hills.

No.
Whenever I'm hanging out with friends in the LA-area, I'm proud to boast that the high desert blows, and I'm proud of it.

I always tell folks not familiar with the Coachella Valley that we leave near Palm Springs...most folks outside of the area have no clue about all the desert towns..easier..

I have no shame in telling anyone that I am from Adelanto. I can afford my house, with a lot of money to spare. The water rates are lower than anywhere else around. I can see the mountains and ride my 4-wheeler or horse right out of my yard, and it is quiet. Things have gotten worse than 20 years ago, but its no Fontana or even Victorville.

I used to live on the border of Riverside and Norco, had to take my pick, either be considered a redneck or a 909er Meth Cooker with an El Camino on blocks in the drive way lol. I usually went with Norco since I went to the highschool there.

You're right, it isn't Fontana, as Fontana has a significantly lower crime index.

Fontana, 2006: 261.8
Adelanto, 2006: 339.6
