There's a La Quinta Cove and a Cathedral City Cove. Which one are you interested in?

You know I'm not sure I have looked online at both areas and the prices on houses are pretty close. But everyone was speaking about the Cathedral City Cove. So I guess that's the one for now, I didn't know there was one in La Quinta.

You will find crime in both Coves, but if I had a preference, I would choose the La Quinta Cove. There are some parts that are spectacularly gorgeous! The closer to the mountains you go, the nicer it is. Actually, the same applies to Cathedral City. You have to go farther up toward the mountains.

Well...the house closed escrow. The Cove is on the south side of the 111 Highway -- next to the hills. It is a piece of granite that they built homes on years ago (my house was built in 1956). They were on septic tanks, they couldn't get cable, there were some 'shady' apartment building at the base. Now the apartments are gone; sewers are in; and Time Warner provides service. It's not on the flat part of CC, so the winds aren't so bad. It seems that most of the residents are Hispanic families -- so far my neighbors have been nothing but helpful. The area is in transition -- for the better. The artist studio is getting a new roof with skylights -- life is good (until the middle of summer when it never cools off...) My house was vacant for 5 years -- squatters caused problems -- the neighbors are happy to have the house occupied.

Congratulations! I was just there last week and beside the incredible winds one day (snow had been predicted), it was gorgeous.

Thanks for the congrats. It's daunting in a way, but I think I'm going to like it. Driving around the Valley is so easy (I'm used to West Los Angeles....) EVERYONE is so nice at the stores like Lowes and Home Depot -- so different than in LA. The wind is there, but it's not so bad by the hills. Out on the 10 is crazy. The community spirit is cool -- the electricians, plumbers, the contractor know their stuff and live in the valley, so they give us good advice. We even got a welcome basket from the area. I don't need to tell you that one does not get a welcome basket in Los Angeles.

We got a welcome basket and a bunch of coupons and booklets when we first moved to Palm Desert from the LA area 12 years ago. Then we made an error a couple years ago and moved to Texas, but were back 9 months later. We moved back to Palm Desert, but rented while we looked around and decided on La Quinta and had this home built. The welcome lady didn't tag us this time. Maybe it's only for first time desert dwellers, or they don't do La Quinta, or they weren't allowed in the gates, I don't know. But at any rate, WELCOME TO THE DESERT, ARTIST' WIFE!!!!!

Thanks! Glad you're back from Texas -- that's a state I avoid even when Im driving across the country. I hope this whole thing works out in Coachella Calley -- people are nice, air is clean, stars shine at night. I'm going to need to find some substance in the daytime though. I'm older and retired -- but still mentally active.
