You can't beat the desert for beauty and gorgeous weather (except in summer). Riverside and SB are going to be closer to LA if you want to get there quicker, but you won't have this beauty.

Allow me to be the first to welcome you to California and the Mojave Dessert. If you're ever passing through Fontana on I-10, I'll be more than happy to buy you some desert at the local panaderia.

Between San Bernardino and Riverside, I'd investigate Riverside and try to look there - closer in my opinion to Los Angeles, Palm Springs (aka the low desert) and the southern beaches. I spent the weekend down that way this weekend and have to say that I wish I were closer to San Diego.
It's not high desert in January cold this morning, but it is a lot colder than what I experienced in San Diego. And you can always trek into the Mojave desert (or river) when you have the opportunity to enjoy it's sparse beauty.
Happy Inaug. Day everyone!!

We are thinking of moving to Cathedral City Cove -- the house has an artist's studio in back. Perfect for who we are. Is Cathedral Cove safe?

The higher up the cove you go the safer it is. The lower part of the cove has some questionable characters and dubious activity. You'll see what I mean when you drive from the bottom of the cove to the top.

I was reading through the comments and was hoping for more information about the Cove. What is it? I'm from Seattle, and looking to come home to California. Northern CA is still to expensive and I am tired of the summer here being 60 degrees on a warm day. Any suggestions? Thank
