Hi.

Can someone please suggest a community college for someone living in Temecula?

Can you also estimate how long would it take to get to the college from Temecula?

While I'm at it, I might as well ask your opinion on a 4 year public university to transfer to after the community college. When we were looking at moving to San Diego, I was considering SDSU but now that we're looking to move to Temecula, maybe there is a different option due to location and travel times.

Thank you in advance for any insight that you can provide.

I hope someone chimes in on this one- I can't offer good advice as I don't have personal experience in this area, but the lack of an accessible, quality 4 year university is definitely on my 'con' list when it comes to Temecula. If we stick around for the long haul (who knows what could happen in the next 10 years!), I'm hoping something gets built or started or improved before my kids head off to college. Anyone?

UCR is relatively close, but why not live in Riverside? San Jacinto Community College is good over in Menifee. My dad teaches there and most of his students are planning to transfer to a 4-year institution. Menifee is about 20 min. from central Temecula, which begs the question why not live in Menifee? SDSU is way too far. CSUSM (San Marcos) is closer, but with traffic it's a mess. About 30 minutes without traffic. Temecula is not really geared towards those going to college. It's more geared as a suburban after college community. I'd suggest looking at places near San Marcos, Menifee, or UCR if you need to be near Temecula.

Thanks for the info. My son is the one who will be attending college. We are just looking at all of the options.

We are planning on moving to the San Diego area this year and are looking at Temecula. My son will be graduating High school this year. Since we won't meet the residency requirements, we are looking at the concept of having him attend a JC for his first two years and then transfer to one on the universities. The California resident tuition seems like a good deal. It doesn't make sense to pay big money for him to go to a university outside of California if we are going to move there. It also doesn't make sense to pay the out of state tuition at a California university when he can attend a JC and get his lower requirements completed. When he's completed the JC, he can transfer to one of the California universities and receive the resident tuition rates.

Thanks again for your advise.

I commuted to SDSU for a year from Murrieta. Not something I would want to do again. about 70-75 minutes one way. As mentioned, CSUSM and UCR would be closer. Cal Poly Pomona is a little further, but still closer than SDSU.
