Ok, so, my partner has been wanting to move to Cali for awhile now (close to home in the Philippines, new scene, etc.). Until the economic slouch I thought it was impossible, but now? I have done research and Temecula seems nice and affordable? Questions:

1. As a 2 woman household with kids will we be ok there?
2. Can we get 2+ acres within 20 min from town? for 500,00 or less
3. Nice place to live?
4. With what you have seen in your town, do you think the foreclosure deals will continue to be found in the next 2yrs?
5. Are there hospitals within 30 min? (my job)

Thanks! Any and all advice helpful...but be nice to me!

1. Well lots of people have kids here if that is what your asking!!! I dunno if you will be ok some people are and some arn't.
2. I highly doubt that you can get a 2+ acres unless it is a mobile home that that is falling apart!!! What I have seen for 5oo,ooo is a tiny tract home with a tiny back yard which probably cost more by now.
3. I don't think so and many others agree, but there are a few that like it they are mostly gullible newcomers though. The people here are obnoxious, self centered and fast paced. Crime is getting worse then it used to. Traffic sucks now. It is hot dry land that catches on fire easily. I guess I just miss the old Temecula, the weather and dryness hasn't changed but everthing else has!!!! Unfortunately, I am stuck here in this hell hole.
4. I dunno I am not a real estate agent!!!
5. The closest hospital to Temecula is in Murrieta and it is 30 miles away I think maby closer maby further I dunno exactly. I guess distance and time depend on where in Temecula you are.

Sassy, I'm wondering where else you've lived? It seems that your perception of "safe" and "distance" and "housing prices" is a little strange.

Housing is more expensive than in other areas of the country, the tiny house with a tiny yard can be purchased for $140K right now (I just received a new listing by email that was exactly that, so....). Now, I wouldn't buy that house, but it doesn't cost $500K. And the hospital is Murrieta is only 6 miles away. Your estimation was five times that. I'm sorry that your life in Temecula is going the way you would like it to, but the information you're providing to prospective newcomers doesn't strike me as accurate. Is there another reason you're trying to deter others? Or perhaps you've never lived in an area with truly high crime or that's truly a "hell-hole"? I'd just like readers of this forum to get more factual information, so I felt I needed to respond.

Thank you dweej - I think Sassy is definitely trolling the forum or is rather delusional. I've reported her as her posts aren't constructive nor accurate.

Not sure where Sassy got her info from, but I am a Realtor in the Temecula area and houses are quite affordable. Temecula and Murrieta are roughly 5 miles apart. You can get a home with 2+ acres for $500K, it just might take some looking on your part. Take a look at Menifee/Murrieta/Temecula. You might want to even look at Hemet if you are looking for affordable homes with that much land.

Look along the Leon Road area outside of Temecula in the French Valley / Winchester area. There are some horse friendly properties out that way, they have 2 acre parcels.

This area is roughly 30 minutes from Inland Valley Medical Center and Kaiser. Maybe a little longer, but not much.
