Hi everyone. I just joined this community as I'm moving to IE next week. M company rented an apartment in Ontario for us for 2 months, until our move arrives from Europe, and in the meantime we'll look for a permanent place to live. The advice I need from the groups is: I'll be making around 120K. What is a reasonable cost for rent on this income ? I guess you might have a good feeling, knowing the cost of living over there. I was looking at places in Rancho Cucamonga, and it seems 2K rent for a 3/4 bedroom is the average asking price.

We're 5 (me, wife and 3 kids, 2 in school age). My company will give me a car, cell phone, and will pay for phone/internet at home. Do you think I would be able to afford this type of rent or should I look for something less pricey ?

Thnx for your help !

If you're making good money like that and you have kids, $2k in Rancho Cucamonga seems like a pretty average deal, not necessarily bad or good. Depending on where your company is, I would choose Rancho or Chino Hills. If the difference in commute is negligible, then choose Rancho because it's cheaper.

This is a good place to look for housing:

Thank you for the reply, dhalsim. It's reassuring to know I don't have to look for something cheaper. I'll be working in sales, so I don't have to be particularly close to a fixed location.

By the way, in case someone is also looking for online real estate ads, I found www.realtors.com has a great add-on, which shows "Parents' reviews" of schools in the whereabouts of each property you're looking at.
