Redlands would be my choice. I have lived here for several years. I have two kids also. Redlands schools are great, some of the best in the state. You will not need private schools unless you are religious and just want them in a christian school. Housing will be more expensive whether you buy or rent. That is why it has stayed so nice.

I have never felt unsafe in redlands no matter what part. But one of the posters said stay away from south Redlands, they are mistaken. South Redlands is the area in redlands. It has the most expensive homes, and nicest area. The area north of the freeway by San Benardino Ave, and Lugonia going towards Mentone is the not so great area. It is not that bad either. Just poorer people. Smaller homes that are not always kept up as nice. Most crime that occurs in redlands, occurs in this area. Check out crimemapping.com to see.

Redlands has a market night every thursday with booths and food, and games fior the kids. my kids love going and look forward to it every week. It also has great parks like Ford and Slyvan. They have movies in the park. Anyway, it is a great town. I would go with Redlands no question.

Default South Redlands Arcadia...North Redlands El Monte

I don't want the same environment as west l.a. because I have young kids now and actually prefer a smaller an 'sleepier' town.
Do you think the Redlands area is similiar to Arcadia or El Monte?
I am fairly familiar with that area.
I grew up in Arcadia and have lived in Redlands (South side) for 14 years. Arcadia and El Monte are complete opposites! Arcadia is a beautiful, crime free, manicured, cultural city whereas El Monte is basically a ghetto! Which can be compared to North Redlands. South Redlands is very much like Arcadia above Highland Ave., Smiley Heights area, Country Club area, etc. The neighborhoods South of Downtown (streets: Olive, Fern, Cypress, Palm, and Highland) are a lot like Monrovia/Pasadena because of all of the historic homes and quaint neighborhoods. South Redlands is a very safe area. You can leave anything on your front porch or in your yard and no one will take it! I am very dissapointed in the cities upkeep though and the general attitude on letting the homeless run amuck downtown panhandling especially at Citrus Center. Lots of empty buildings downtown. Halloween is awesome in South Redlands but if you buy on Olive, be prepared to spend hundreds on candy!!!!!!

Redlands IS a great place to live- just make sure to relocate to the south side of the 10 freeway. The north side can have some higher crime rates, gangs, etc. Here's a great link to help you relocate: Short Sales Foreclosures Agent Realtor Specialists in Redlands CA 92373 92374 92375 Short Sell Your Home Short Pay My House Bank Properties Real Estate Service in City of Redlands California Help Expert Specialist How To Short Sale What is a Negotiat
