Well, there was a tiny one over on the west side of town near the old business parks a few weeks ago, but as for large wildfire danger, that is usually in October. We'll see what this year has in store...

Great news, welcome to the community!

Don't worry about fires - unless you're nestled in the hills, its very unlikely for a tract to burn in the valley.

If you don't mind me asking, which company is thinking about relocating? (If you don't want to mention the name, can you mention the industry?) I try to track local businesses and such and it'll help me to know where future jobs are coming from.

Thanks!

Being a resident of Temecula for the past 9 years, I'll chime in.

You'll like Temecula, although it has grown TREMENDOUSLY since we moved here. Every store you can think of and even chain restaurants are here, so you usually don't have to leave town for anything...except of course, the beach and that takes 30 minute drive to get to Oceanside.

Its hot in the summer and not unusual to get 100+ days but the nights usually cool down.

The fires in Los Angeles don't affect us, but the ones in San Diego County did in the past (the smoke was awful for a few days). There haven't been any fires in town that I can think of, just highway fires that have dry brush.

All the neighborhoods have their plusses and minuses. The ONE thing I warn every prospective homebuyer is ASK your agent about the tax rate in the neighborhoods you are considering as some areas have much higher property taxes (almost double!) and the Homeowners Assoc fees. Then drive around during the commuter hours and see what streets go at a snails pace (ie., French Valley).

Wish you the best. Lots of homes for sale, but I hear that sales are picking up because prices are low. I also heard that short sales and foreclosures abound, but waits are long, and some buyers just give up on them and go to market rate homes for a quicker sale. The banks are not making it easy to buy these foreclosures and REO's or short sales.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Don't know much about the schools, as we are retired and our children are all grown up.

we just moved here a year ago....There are a lot of nice neighborhoods in Temecula....we took a liking to Morgan Hill, Red Hawk, Crowne Hill.....I have a 5 and 6 year old and they attend the Tony Tobin Elementary school in Morgan Hill....I couldn't say better things about the school and its admin...with foreclosures where they are there are great deals everywhere. We were concerned about what the whole housing crisis would mean for neighborhoods, but you know, I think in many instances it has helped....e.g. a lot of people who shouldn't have afforded homes are now out, and instead families are moving in...sure there is still more rental than I would like to see, but this seems more of a SoCal phenomenon. I've live all over, including the East Coast, Mid West, and Rocky Mountain region....when I compare things here....overall it has been a very good choice for us...
