I plan to move to California this summer from Hawaii.
I have done some on-line search for new home and found some
possible properties on Terra Vista Pkwy near Milliken Ave in Rancho Cucamonga.
Is this area a safe place to live and raise a family?

That part of the city is fine. You want to stay above Foothill Blvd. Generally, below Foothill isn't as nice. I think your area is just above it and by the massive shopping centers by Haven more than Milliken. Also check out Etiwanda, it is the part of Fontana that touches Rancho Cucamonga. The area closest to Victoria Gardens.

From what I know, the market here is rebounding slowly compared to prices last year. I would act quickly before the summer starts if you can.

I've lived in this area for almost two years and can say it's pretty safe. Lots of schools and parks in the area.

I've lived in RC for the last 20+ yrs (I'm in my mid 30s) & I think it's the best city to live in the entire San Bernardino county. (I moved from Los Angeles) But I also don't want the city to be another Los Angeles & everyone moving here because it's so nice & safe because pretty soon, it won't be so nice & safe anymore. The cost of living is pretty high, so not just anyone who's up to no good can afford living here, so that's wonderful I think.

I know the area exactly that you mentioned. It's nice. The best area of RC is a small box. You can't go too north, south, east, or west, or else, it's not as great.

Some sections of Fontana, Ontario, & Chino have really built up & gotten nice, I see. Upland & CLaremont are nice too. If you like the small town feel, Claremont is the place to be.

Hello, my wife and I are also planning to move to Southern Cal this summer, and Rancho Cucamonga is one of the areas we are currently considering to settle in. Hope we can find a nice place to live!!

I live in RC and I like it too. I have heard the Etiwanda school district is fantastic, however I haven't done any research. It is not cheap here, but it is certainly cheaper than many areas of Los Angeles. The mountain views are beautiful. It gets very windy here too, btw.

You can't go too north? So living at the tippity top of Alta Loma (up Haven, Archibald, Carnelian) wouldn't be "as great"?

You gotta be kidding me.

Actually David Aguilar, now that I think about it, I guess the NORTH is the exception. I guess further towards the mtns are just as good. HOWEVER, then, it's a matter of if you want to live where it will snow, so some people may think of that as a negative. If you want to live in freezing temps & shovel snow all the time, by all means, go for it! Now regarding crime & safety in the north direction, I guess it's alright.
