gandalara..i was bored out of my mind too in temecula (i am not a gambler),while my husband was playing,that is why i had the time and possibility to look around me and notice certain things,like the baby..
i took contact with the management of the casino and with the child protection in riversie county...just for my information and for the future..i am very sensitive with kids and generally,if i notice a not ok behavior,that affects a child,i am the perso,who report no matter what..
what i found out form the management of the hotel..children are allowed only in the etaing area,they are strictly forbidden in the othe rarea..they let the kids with parents in the eating area,maybe to wait for another parent playing and so on..i would not even allow that..but the kids are completely forbidden in other area..not only because of the smoke,but i also pointed to him the alkohool aspect..a minor is not allowed in areas,where alkohool is consumed..around teh baby was alkohool and at the bar alkohool is served too..they get into big trouble of this..the manager told me,this means big trouble for the casino,a minor in this area,but sometimes parents brakes the rule and do not get caught,if it too busy like on that satrday..the manager was absolutely my opinion and condamne such a parent and i shoudl report immedieatlly and call teh security,if it happens again...the same reaction with the childprotection...if i report to the security,i shoudl also informe the officer that i will report to child protection,in this case,he will take the information of teh parent..i have the possibility to report at the child protection any incident regarding any child

thing in usa to expose a child in an area,where alkohhol is served..smoke not so heavy effects,but alkohool..and the casino get in trouble too..underaged,minor children in such areas are forbidden..
my moral duty is to report...no matter what...that is me and it will never change..i make a differecence,when it is about a child abuse and this is child abuse...even the manager of teh casion had the same opinion..the baby can not defend himself..
now other topic..there are huge differences between europeans and americans..this is fact..they will never be the same or close to be the same...if i emigrate to another country i only embrace,what is positive from the country,from the mentality...not,what I consider negative..
emigrate to anothe rcountry is not a reason to give up your traditions,mentality,way of thinking,is also not a reason to like verything..i have always the option to chose,do i like this or do i not..i will always be myself and tell directly (very shocking for many americans) my honest opinion..i talk my minnd,i do not sugarcoat,that is me..and if i do not like something,i say it..no sense for pretend i like it or whatever...i have cretain values,i got a certain education,what is right and what is wrong and i will not chnage it any country i go..my grand grand parents and my grandparents left me a greta heritage ,not only values,traditions,mentality,but also finacially,what puts me ina great position,to can afford to say everything anytime,i am my own boss and i have the liberty to be myself and express myself,the way i feel and like...and who does not like it,his problem,not mine..

Going to a casino ANYWHERE in a middle of a non-holiday work day is de-press-in'. Bunch of old women trying to get lucky on slots. Bunch of old dudes playing video poker. Everyone has their casino rewards card in hand as if someone will try to steal it. Not sure what you except from a casino, they do attract the wrong type of people often enough to have a massive amount of security. I've been to casinos all over SoCal, Vegas, Laughlin, (never ever go there), Australia, and in Vancouver. I love playing Texas Hold Em' but the few times I lose my money and am forced to wait for my friends, I get bored as hell.

Dub, I like Laughlin, the cainos and hotels leave a lot to be desired, but at least it isn't crowded like Vegas.

Give me Laughlin, Reno, Vegas, Vancouver, Toronto, Atlantic City or an Indian Rez Casino *any day* over any European casino full of people who think their stuff doesn't stink.
if you read my post,you would understand,why i was there...teh answer is in my post..because of my husband..nothing wrong with going with him,i do it all teh time and i did it everywhere,europe or usa ...i will not die on it one time in six,eight months and we like to be together,because after we go always somewhere else..he is american and from time to time he likes to go to casinos,but he did not like pechanga,so we will go somewhere else next year...i always enjoy the evening,night after being in casino,but i did not enjoy it after pechnaga because my mind was at the poor baby and i felt very sorry,i did not react immediately on the spot..my husband has finished and he was in a hurry to meet another couple another place...
when it is about children i see red..i can not see children suffering..the same in northcalifornia..my junior started middle school and the school was really in a bad position,so it was huge traffic around the school at pick up,totally chaos,cars could not proper drive,streets around blocked,school buses..chaos..tired children in school busses,tired parenst and so on..i went to the office,what is going on?is there no officer to delegate the traffic after school??nope..cutts everywhere,offciere busy with soemthing else,the principale tried,but was not succesful..some days he came out and he delegate the traffic or some teachers from time to time,but was horrible situation and the kids suffered most..so i called the police,i got numbers,was connected different places,i do nto talk good english,but i finally reached teh guy ,who could have been responsable for not sending an officer..sorry lady,nothing to do..i was furious,because this was not acceptable for me,children are the future of the country and society has to take care of them..he said,he has nobody,i said,oh well,find somebody...i was furious,because he was totally not cooperant..what i did not like that NOBODY of teh parents complained or took some action to change this chaos..noen of teh parents,nobody raised the voice..oh well,i am different and always be,no sense to change me..so i went to the local newspaper;i am european,i am unhappy in the community,i have some issues..they were all ears..in addition i went form car to car at achool pick up afternoon and instigated all the parents,made a revolution,i told them time to step up,time to change,make a difference..i was thinking the guy i talked to shoudl have fun with the journalist and teh furious crowd of parents..teh result was fast and great..he suddenly found police officers delegating the traffic and it was much better for everybody,but especially for kids,they could come earlier home not sit in crowdy busses and so on..not all the parenst could pick up their kids ,so they had crowdy (because of cuts)schooll busses...so,i make a difference,equal,how small it is,and i can not just walk by like many people did on that evening..they simply did not care,that a baby is in heavy smoke in an area with alkohool and so on..i do nto only blame the gamblers there from many of them,you do not even expect a different reaction,i blamed brutally the employes of the casinos,not only the security,but the women walking aorund,serving..they should have noticed..but they got the right instruction for sure after i informed the management...you can not be that ignorante...i have a big heart for kids,old people and unhappy women and equal,where i am,when i see soemthing,what in my eyes and opinion is not right,i react immediatelly no matter what..
gandalara..our stuff stink too,but the difference is ,we react...what bothers will be removed,because we react,we report,we just not walk ignorante around it...we face the facts and deal with them,we do not ignore them..and we take care of our children..
german children have free education,have excellent health care ,get money from the state till they are 18 or longer (not social money,child money),mothers get 80 percent of their salary till baby is 3 years old,a lot of suport for mothers and children...and the child protection has very high authority,like a criminal police,very powerful institution..and in germany if a child is in a casino,got save this casino,will be shut!!not even in cinema children are allowed,only according to age..hier at avatar little children were watching and nobody cared,some scenes were not for children,but who cared,they paid teh ticket...no wonder there are so many porblems with kids hier..but not the kids are to blame,i would blame ignorante parents first,like that one,who brings the baby in a casino..child abuse..nothing else in my eyes...i am sorry,i was in a hurry,God save this parent,his luck..i woudl have reported him with no end at all childprotections and at the security too...he would not have forget this evening with me for sure,only what i have wanted to tell him to his face...for this action he would have lost temporary custody in germany..but hier means trouble too,it looks like (with child protection)..only somebody has to report it like child protection said..and it is corect to report and react,we had the same opinion on that one..
Whatever! I have been to the main casino (you have to stay in one of four of the best hotels to gain automatic entrance) in Monte and I smoked a big Cuban Cohiba. Didn't see any babies thank goodness but I doubt that child will develop lung cancer or alcoholism next week. Also there were not very many friendly types in that haute casino. I tried to make friends - all I said was 'good number, I think I'll try that' and one person actually gave me a dirty look and walked away from the table. I think Vegas is rather tacky but at least people can be fun around a roulette table. If you are going gambling at Penchanga you should re-think that -- roulette is a wheel where you stand around a bubble and there is no human being.
I really don't think the fact that the baby or child (how old was this child?) was around alcohol is an issue. Its not like a small child is going to go get a drink from the bar, or pick up someones beer and start drinking it. I do find it amusing that a person from Germany is giving the United states a bunch of crap about a child around alcohol when in Germany you can pretty much drink at any age. Legally in Germany you can drink at 14 with your Parents. 14 is still a child. You can go buy a drink by yourself at age 16 in Germany. 16 is still a child.
Having a child in a smoking casino is wrong but I wasn't there so who knows what was really going on.
and what does all the crap about how things are handled in Germany have to do with one casino? The tread was originally about casinos in Temecula not about traffic in front of the schools. I really do hope the Op gets to return to the wonderful country she is from, obviously USA isn't the place for her to live happily every after, but that is another subject for another day.
nmita..you hope wrong..i will not retun exclusevely to germany,because my husband is american and we took the decision to live on both continents hapilly ever after,so everybody is happy..it is not,that i do not like everything hier..if this had been the case,i woudl have left and never returned..an american husband (who lived many years in europe and still wanted to come home..no army,bussinessman)is not a reason for me to stay in a country,that i do not like at all..if i had not liked it at all,i would have left and if my husband had loved me,he would have to follow me,and if he had not followed,oh well,i would have moved on,but i do not live in a country,where,i hate everything..
this is not the case,certain things i like,certain things,i do not...certain things i embrace,certain i do not..but i am not afraid to open my mouth,if i do not like something and pretend i like it..
the same with americans in europe..i met many americans in europe and they liked certain things,they dod not like other things (like stores closed at six ,no dryer use and so on..there are huge differences between americans and europeans..what is right for europeans,is wrong for americans..what is right for americans is wrong for europeans..huge cultural differences..)
and yes,i think a country,who offers education for free,is a wonderful country..even east european countries offer universities for free and everybody has access to education,which i consider very importante..hier i talked the other day with young people,who finished good universities with a mountain of debts..how is it to start your young life in a mountain of debts?to have to pay so much for a good education?it is sad..and also for people who can not afford to study in this country..i met so many people,who would like to,tehy can not,because they have to struggle in this financial hard times..
danalysd...this 14 years and drink with parents comes from the fact that many people have their own grapes and produce wine..the 14 years old were helping and also encouraged to drink and taste it..it is kept in tradition..i do not support drinking in this age,although we produce every year our own wine in europe not for sale..neither do i for 16...european think different..they think,what is forbidden,it is always attractive..they did not forbidde alkohool till 21 or 18,because they think,if it is forbidden,might become a big tentation for this age..and they are right,because usa even with the alkohool forbid,has more alkohhol problems in teenagers then we do...
and I will add, when in Rome, do as the Romans do, when in Amreica do as the Americans do..As for free education or free anything, no, it is not free, there is no such thng as free education. It is paid for by taxes or did you think the instructors teach out of kindness, the schools are built with voluntary help and supplies are grown in your back yard?
Of course there are lots of Americans of German decent, in fact, probably a good number. Many have been here generations. I do however have a few friends, some living in CA, a few in Texas that are first or second gerneration. They happen to prefer the American way of life including our educational system.. But again, this has nothing to do with your feelings on a particular casino.
