I've done searches and haven't found any answers. Some of the posts talk about similar locations but are very old. Anyone do the commute from Riverside to Anaheim (near Disneyland)? I need to be back in Riverside by 6-6:30pm. What time would I have to leave for work in the morning and leave work in the afternoon?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

it is bad and can easily take over an hour, i would guess closer to 90 minutes on most days unless you get a fastpass for the 91 express lanes. that will save you a lot of time on the afternoon commute, but will cost you a pretty penny. i think it's close to $10 during peak hours these days.

Thanks for the reply brinsm!

Any ideas how long it would take with the fastpass?

I'm thinking of moving to Riverside so I need to find a job around there. What are some cities around Riverside with reasonable commutes?

Don't do that under any circumstances. Have you ever witnessed the 91 West in the morning, or the 91 East in the evening? Forget it!

Yes, very quickly one wonders why life is worth living when experiencing that mess.

I tried it once, wondering how viable it was to save some $$ ... it took 75 minutes to get from the 15 to the 57.

Then I factored in the additional cost of gas, car insurance, and extra wear-and-tear ... that would've ran an additional $650/month for me.

Not worth it!

about as painful as slamming your finger in the door! ( Bad ) have done the route several times , 1 1/2 hrs if there are no problems . Could take as long as 3 hrs. Not the best of commutes.

Two years ago I turned down a well-compensated technical position with a defense electronics contractor in Irvine... because at this point in my life, why subject myself to the aggravation of that drive 5+ days a week? The extra money would have been nice to have around for toys, but I can live without toys.

i drive the 91 from the 15 to the 55 everyday. i hit the 91 about 5:30 and there is traffic the whole way. it flows OK most mornings. if there is an accident i turn around and go home because the one time i didn't it took 3 hours (fatality). i travel home (east) early. I hit the 91 about 3 pm and there is always traffic. always. most days you hit stop and go much of the way. parts flow ok. on fridays it is a nightmare, period. vegas traffic kills the 91 on fridays. it has taken me more than 2 hours to go from 55 to 15 on the 91. as long as it is flowing it's ok. it still isn't nearly as bad as LA traffic but it can get tiring.

Even in an economy as bad as this one, such a commute is not worth it. If the job is good enough, move closer to it. If the job isn't great...well, I'd rather go back to earning minimum wage at a pizza parlor that ever do that life-sapping drive ever again.
