Hello, I am moving to SB from out of town and am wondering whether or not it is a safe area. I am moving to the area North of the 210 and East of the 215, sort of near the college. It is off of W 40 St between ELectric and Waterman.

Is this a decent area? Do I have to worry about bringing valuable items in case of robbery? Thank you in advance for your help.

There's a safe area in SB? How come on one told me?

Yeah, that area is relatively safe .. my sister has lived in that neighborhood for two decades now... it's not bad.

True -- to the OP, I hate to tell you this, but I didn't read through your post thoroughly the first time. I thought you were referring to the neighborhood closer to Cal State. The area you're talking about is a lot less safe. It's ..hmmm... let me put it this way. You might not get mugged there your first year, but if you stay for about five years, my money is on you being a crime victim. Still, as SB goes, it's relatively safe. You don't have a lot of options there. If you can, move closer to the college. That's the only neighborhood left in SB that's safe by normal standards.
