All smaller ones but still, I believe that more frequent, smaller, quakes can be a precursor to a big one.

Of course my wife is from the south east and is new to them and is freaking out over this!
Geologists have said that it's normal to have aftershocks up to 6.0 for up to a year following a 7.2 temblor like we had on Easter weekend. The "frequent, smaller" quakes you're referring to are nearly all aftershocks, ocurring in the same area. So while we're having a greater number of quakes than usual, it's nothing out of the ordinary.

Certainly a good time to think about preparedness, but nothing to get too worried about at this point.

I can only imagine being on the 21st floor is scary...that is why I would never live in those high rises. But thankfully majority of the high rises have been retro fitted for earthquakes, but that doesn't mean they are earthquake proof. If the "big one" happens and especially along the fault line through downtown SD, I don't think those high rises will stand 100%. There will be damage, but to what extent, who knows.

WTH? All this better be over by the time I get there on Saturday. I don't want my first time in SD to be filled with quakes.

we live in Carmel Valley, and we didn't feel or notice anything!!! My husband, son and I were here all evening...that is very odd, b/c the Easter one, by contrast, was *huge* for us-building swaying, prolonged, biggest my husband has ever felt, and he is a SD native, etc.

huh. that's very strange, b/c i usually feel all the tremors and after shocks-even the most subtle-i'm super sensitive to them.

anyway, anyone else in CV area feel it or not?

It is funny but understandable to call out to God if we think we may die. My parents remember when the Northridge quake hit that people began to scream in fear asking Jesus to save us. During the Haitian earthquake people began to sing hymns thinking that it was the end of the world.

Earthquakes are scary. It seems that the San Diego region has been spared bad earthquakes compared to LA & the Bay Area. I guess it is overdue that the southern San Andreas gets active.

I wish it would just happen already. i'm tired of having all this anticipation.
