Ok, what do you think is their game plan? I thought it was supposed to be put to a vote? Do they have a back door deal cooking?

I'm not very familiar with the economics of this new stadium thing, but what do non-sports fans get out of a new downtown stadium? Of course, there will be construction jobs and boosts to certain sectors of the local economy, but does that make up for what the city will fork over to build it?

One thing that does sound good to me about the proposed stadium is the possibility of it being covered, which would allow it to be a multipurpose facility and to be used throughout the year. Also, it would free up the land that Qualcomm and the Sports Arena are sitting on.

From what I've been reading there isn't much in it for non-football fans. The same for the Library, non-book worms are getting horked.

Well, with a stadium and libraries, you've got the sports fans and book worms satisfied; that about covers everyone right?

When it comes to the new downtown library it's the rich people who are donating the money to build it who are being horked. Though, over time since it will be bigger than the old library, the general fund will have to pick up some additional operating expenses.

I do support the building of the new City Hall. The current building is a Brutalist monstrosity that is damaging to the fabric of Downtown. FYI: Brutalism is a style of architecture, heavy on concrete, that is often associated with Communist countries. Hence the phrase, "Commie concrete."

Stadium? They have to provide A LOT of explanation and persuasion to get me to buy into that one.
