Here's my list of favorite 3 day get aways. No particular order. I'm always looking for other fun places to go. Some may be a stretch and really require >3 days

1. Drive up the Coast. Santa Barbara and North
2. Desert - Joshua tree, Anza Borrego (Fall, winter, Spring). Best in Feb/March Wildflower
3. Vegas - 5 hour drive
4. Grand Canyon lite (really requires more days)
5. Arizona - Sedona, Oak creek canyon
6. Tucson
7. Big Bear

Here's example of desert wildflower outing done back in late winter (peak of wildflowers), had some guests in town. It was a huge hit.

Ininerary 1 - Desert and Wildflower Spectacular
Start San Diego - 7am Friday
1. Early Friday Morning Depart
2. Take scenic 76 thru Pala reservation, over moutains and down into desert, great views, tremendous change in climates, orange groves to desert.
3. Stop in Anza Borrego Desert Park visitor center. Great visitor center.
4. Spent morning early afternoon wildflower picture taking, taking in the incredible sights and smells.
5. Drive north to 10, take south entrance of Joshua tree, Drive north thru park.
6. Check in 29Palms inn, funky cool place with cabins. Dinner at 29 Palms
7. Saturday - start out at Joshua tree visitor center....then all day at Joshua tree, bring picnic lunch, hike, pictures, etc. Stay thru sunset.....Awesome pics. If you are lucky there is a night time "star party" going on. Star party is basically a group of astronomers with their big telescopes, see Saturn's rings and moons, galaxies, etc.
8. Sunday - Early breakfast, early morning in park
9. Drive home south, route thru Julian. Late Lunch. Sightseeing in old gold mining town. Bit touristy, but still fun.
Home: 7pm Sunday

Can you guys generate similarily detailed itineraries?
